Why Register Your Marriage?
Even if you were married years ago in a religious ceremony (Temple, Gurudwara, Church, or Mosque), obtaining a government-issued Marriage Registration Certificate is highly recommended. It serves as the ultimate legal proof of your union.
When Do You Need a Certificate?
A registered certificate is often a mandatory requirement for:
- Applying for a Spouse Visa or traveling abroad together.
- Adding your spouse's name to your Passport.
- Opening joint bank accounts or applying for joint home loans.
- Claiming life insurance policies or family pensions.
Required Documents for Registration
To register a prior marriage in the Delhi courts, you will need to provide the following documentation to our legal team:
- Aadhaar Card and PAN Card of both husband and wife.
- Proof of Date of Birth for both parties.
- Address Proof (at least one party must have a Delhi address).
- A certificate from the religious institution where the marriage took place, or a wedding invitation card.
- Passport-size photographs and photographs from your actual wedding ceremony.
- Two witnesses with valid government-issued ID proofs.
