Inter-Caste Marriage Schemes in Rajasthan

By Advocate Amit Ji · Updated: August 2026

To promote social harmony and eradicate untouchability, the Government of Rajasthan actively encourages inter-caste marriages through the Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme. By legally registering your marriage, eligible couples can secure substantial financial assistance and legal protection.

1. Financial Incentives in Rajasthan

Under the state's welfare scheme, couples where one partner belongs to a Scheduled Caste (SC) and the other belongs to a non-SC (General/OBC) category are eligible for significant financial incentives. A portion of this amount is usually kept in a fixed deposit for the couple's future, while the rest is provided for immediate household settlement.

2. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the government grant in Rajasthan, the couple must meet specific rules:

  • Valid Marriage Certificate: The marriage must be legally registered in a Rajasthan court under the Hindu Marriage Act or the Special Marriage Act. Religious certificates alone (like Mandir certificates) are not accepted.
  • Domicile: At least one of the partners must be a permanent resident (domicile) of Rajasthan.
  • First Marriage: The financial incentive is typically only applicable for the first marriage of both partners.
  • Time Limit: The application for the financial incentive must usually be filed within one year of the marriage registration.

3. Legal Protection for the Couple

Beyond financial benefits, registering an inter-caste marriage provides the couple with a legal shield. If the couple faces hostility or threats from their families or society, the court-issued marriage certificate is the first and most critical document required to request police protection from the High Court.

Act Swiftly to Secure Your Rights

Because the application window for these government schemes is time-sensitive, couples should prioritize their court registration immediately after their wedding ceremony. Our legal team can guide you through the fast-track registration process in your district to ensure you do not miss out on these benefits.
