Court Marriage in Delhi: 2026 Process, Fees & Documents

By Advocate Amit Ji · Updated: July 2026

Getting a court marriage in Delhi is one of the most secure and legally binding ways to formalize a relationship. Whether you are an inter-caste couple, an inter-religion couple, or an Indian national marrying a foreigner, the Delhi district courts process marriages under specific legal acts to ensure total validity.

1. The Legal Frameworks in Delhi

  • The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955: Applies if both partners are Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, or Sikhs. Couples often perform an Arya Samaj wedding first, followed by same-day court registration.
  • The Special Marriage Act, 1954: Applies to inter-religion marriages or marriages involving foreign nationals. This act requires a mandatory 30-day notice period.

2. Essential Documents Required

  • Age Proof: 10th Class Marksheet, Birth Certificate, or Passport.
  • Address Proof: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Driving License.
  • Photographs: 6 to 8 passport-size photographs of both the bride and groom.
  • Witnesses: Two adult witnesses with their own valid ID proofs.

3. Court Marriage Fees in Delhi

  • Court Marriage in Delhi directly: Rs. 5,100/-
  • Arya Samaj Mandir Marriage + Registration: Rs. 3,100/-
  • Same Day Court Marriage + Arya Samaj: Rs. 8,100/-
